 On Tuesday, Karitane school went to the Otago museum to see the planetarium. It was an amazing and exciting experience and very educational. Next, they went to the art gallery to see the beautiful creation story mural painted by Xoe.  I would definitely recommend seeing this amazing mural and learning about all of the Atua. Jess

This week all of the children have been making huts with the branches that have been cut down beside the bike track, and called the area 'the huts'. Most of the kids enjoyed making these huts and climbing the nearby tree's. This has been helping them with teamwork and solving problems. Jess  

 The Buddy bench is a new bench for Karitane school.  It is by were the hose used to be and is a place for lonely kids to come together and play with each other! This is a great addition to the school and will help bring the children together. Here is an image of the bench. I hope this affects the playground in a positive way that will bring more of the children together, and will last longer than some of the other chairs. It will also be good for when you just want someone to talk to or want to do some reading or drawing! Jess

 This term, Karitane school has decided to team up with the netball team from Waitati school, so most of the year 5 and 6 girls are playing netball for the Waitati Goal busters! Netball practices are at Waitati and Karitane school, and all the games are at the Edgar centre! Their first game is tonight, so wish them luck! Here is a collage I made for Netball. Good luck, team!  On Friday, the whole school and some parent helpers, planted 500+ trees and plants on our very own bike track! A very special thank you to all the parents who came to help, and especially to Dylan, who burned the children's  names into the wooden stakes, explained how to take a plant out of its bag, and dug so many wholes! Thank you parents! Here are some images of the bike track, some of the best ones are at the bottom!

 This week at Karitane school, 2 of the year 6 girls started a small floral cafe with food you can actually eat! they use an amazing water system using lily pad things! They have mock tails, wraps, peppery flowers and parsley as a topping! They have employed chefs, a waitress, a stock supplier, a water works person, and stand in chefs.
