PAL'S

 A while ago, the year 6's went to the Edgar centre to learn about and become PAL'S.
PAL'S mean Physical Activity Leaders.
They played several games including  Hot dog, Monkey tail's, Jail break, Shark attack, Sneak up on dragon and more!

In one of the lesson's, they learned about how some game's are difficult for kid's with physical/mental disabilities to play game's and how to make it easier for them.

They also learned about planning a PAL'S game and communication (such as Oral language), and trust.

This was a fun experience.

Here is some feedback from the PAL'S

Jess: "I thought it was fun and exhausting, but mainly fun!"
Ameliyah: "I thought it was fun! I was confused for the oral language though. "
Mae: "It was exciting and interesting."
Eleanor: "It was fun."

Camp Columba

 On the 30th and 1st of March, Karitane School will be going on a school camp to Camp Columba, Gore. Some of the activities include abseiling, rock climbing, ziplining, flying weka, and high ropes. We can't wait to find out what activities our teachers have chosen for us! It costs $100 per kid and $60 per adult for Karitane school kids. It's about 2 hours and 30 minutes away from the school, and parents are welcome to drive their own kids if they have paid and are coming! Buddy Bench

 The Buddy bench is a new bench for Karitane school.  It is by were the hose used to be and is a place for lonely kids to come together and play with each other! This is a great addition to the school and will help bring the children together. Here is an image of the bench. I hope this affects the playground in a positive way that will bring more of the children together, and will last longer than some of the other chairs. It will also be good for when you just want someone to talk to or want to do some reading or drawing! Jess
